Combined Sewage Overflow pipes - Panorama

Really interesting panorama on Monday - showing just how much raw sewage is pumped into the sea from CSO's (Combined Sewage Overflow) pipes. Torbay has been named and shamed with regard to sewage entering the sea. Ecoli and other nasty bacteria has been found in areas around CSO's .The examples given where down in cornwall.
There's an on line map to show where the pipes are - for this area they are at :
Babbacombe, Torre Abbey, Preston Sands, Paignton Sands, Goodrington and St Mary's Bay.
If note there wasn't one up stream from Coombe Cellars.
At times of heavy rain the CSO's begin to flow so the water quality is at it's worst then and for about two days after depending on tides wind etc. All manner of cr**p comes out i.e. ear buds, sanitary towels, toilet paper etc.
Check out the programme or their web site entry.
